West Flemish scale-up JUUNOO recently obtained the global C2C label. This label is well-deserved recognition for the company’s efforts to transform the construction sector into a circular market. “It confirms the sustainable nature of our products. The internationally recognised Cradle to Cradle Certified® label is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made. To obtain certification, products must comply with a series of requirements relating to health and the environment. More specifically, these concern the safe and healthy use of materials, product recyclability, renewable energy, sustainable water management and social fairness. For more than a decade, Cradle to Cradle Certified® has been helping businesses to innovate and optimise their products and materials, to ensure that their impact on people and the planet is a positive one. By so doing, the Cradle to Cradle Institute is also supporting the global transition to a circular economy.

JUUNOO designs internal wall systems that are 100 percent circular and, thanks to their speed of installation, actively boost productivity within the construction sector. Customers can quickly dismantle and reassemble JUUNOO walls in new locations. Alternatively, JUUNOO will happily buy them back for resale to another customer. The latter is unique in the construction industry, presenting users with an economic advantage as well as environmental one.

In addition to Silver certification, JUUNOO has also achieved Gold status for the ‘Material Reutilisation’ component, enabling the Kortrijk-based company to demonstrate the circularity and recyclability of its modules.

The company’s innovative system makes it possible to build a wall with a height of up to 5.5 metres using just two types of modules. These modules can be reused up to 30 times. This is in stark contrast to traditional interior walls, which are routinely discarded to the tune of 300 billion euros per year. JUUNOO materials also emit very little in the way of CO2 during the manufacturing process.
“Obtaining this certification was the culmination of years of product innovation and optimisation. It also sends a powerful message to other entrepreneurs who are keen to apply circularity within their own organisations.
